The Public Service Commission through its Human Resource Development Division conducted a Time Management training for the first time in Savaii for public servants.
The purpose of the training impulses the participants to appreciate the value of time and broaden their understanding of time management in a practical manner in their workplaces by looking at the following learning outcomes:
- Exploring and learning key principles and tools of time management to improve their performance in the workplace
- Understanding their roles and how to best balance these roles to succeed in the face of conflicting situations
- Applying their understanding to developing practical plans, drawn from their duties and responsibilities or their required deliverableLead trainer Ms. Lenara Tuipoloa-Utuva mentioned that “time management is necessary to be productive in any setting. It is a knowledge and skill that is essential if not expected in any workplace, because of its linked benefits to effectiveness and efficiency.”
The invitation to attend the training was met with a lot of enthusiasm, with 17 participants
Lead trainer Ms. Lenara Tuipoloa-Utuva mentioned that “time management is necessary to be productive in any setting. It is a knowledge and skill that is essential if not expected in any workplace, because of its linked benefits to effectiveness and efficiency.”
The invitation to attend the training was met with a lot of enthusiasm, with 17 participants consisting of senior and principal officers together with managers from various Government agencies in Savaii taking part at the 4-half day training. The participants showed great appreciation and motivation to not only adopt but to share time management tools or techniques
learnt from the training within their respective workplaces.
Upon the completion of the training, all participants were awarded with certificates, accredited by the Samoa Qualification Authority (SQA).
The office of the PSC also acknowledged the support of the SQA in taking this recognized training activity across to Savaii.
Ms. Utuva stated that “this training being conducted for the first time for public servants in Savaii signifies the expansion of the local trainings carried out by PSC as the Non-Formal Education provider for the Public Sector. Now that this prospect has been explored, it encourages more of these trainings to be held in Savaii in the future.”
The training was held at the Savaii SSAB Conference Room from the 22nd to 25th February, 2022.
