The Talofa with a Smile Campaign was officially launched on the, 2nd October 2023, during the Annual Public Service Day celebration. The Deputy Prime Minister, Honourable Tuala Tevaga Ponifasio, together with Acting High Commissioner for the Australian High Commission in Samoa, Claire McGeechan, unveiled the Talofa with a Smile banner, in the presence of members of Cabinet and distinguished guests, as well as over 300 public servants that marched on the day.
The Talofa with a Smile Campaign seeks to encourage better service delivery, and in particular, frontline service, across the Public Service. It is premised on the values of service and respect, as identified in the Public Service Act 2004. The campaign is a concerted effort to strengthen customer service in government, in line with established standards and expectations set out by the Public Service Commission. This initiative is considered by the PSC as a critical intervention at this time, particularly as the quality of frontline services have been at the center of public criticism in recent months.
The PSC will be conducting sessions with Ministries to explain the Talofa with a Smile concept in totality, as well as a suite of programs expected to be rolled out over the next couple of months, in support of the campaign.
We appreciate the support of the Government of Australia’s Tautai Facility, which provided extremely valuable support towards the realization of the Talofa with a Smile campaign launch. Faafetai tele lava!
