PS Day 2018
The Samoa Public Service, (SPS) Day will be commemorated as planned on Friday, September 28th 2018.
For this year’s SPS Day celebration, the usual parade will not take place. The destination of the parade is also under construction.
Instead, Cabinet has approved for SPS Day to continue with Ministries and State-Owned Enterprises encouraged to use creative ideas to add value and improve services to stakeholders and the general public, including the use of foyers of the buildings where agencies have their offices for displays to promote and raise awareness on services and responsibilities of Government agencies and the work of public servants.
A major focus of the SPS Day this year is promoting increased awareness in particular of school children about the government and the public service.
In this connection, the PSC has put together an Introductory Information Package, (IIP) kit in the form of attractive posters that could be put in classrooms or school halls to inform school children and students, in a visual and easy to understand presentation, of the structure of the Government and the services it provides.
The IIP kits will be provided to all government, mission and private schools. These will be distributed at the start of the term by the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture to Government schools with the PSC disseminating the kit to missions and private schools.
Last but very importantly, SPS Day on Friday, 28th September is not a Public Holiday and all government offices will remain open throughout the day.
